Choosing your path in music

So , now i want to discuss the eternal question: "Where do i begin?".
The first thing to do is to choose what you want to be in music. To help you with that i will list some of the specializations in music .

The first thing that will come to everyone's mind is the musical instrument player. These are the guys and girls who are giving life to the compositions that we all like listening to.Think about the crazy Santana's solos or the beautiful Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. If it wasn't for the great players who played those pieces of music we couldn't hear them. So in music ,as i believe, learning an instrument of your choice is a must, even if you are going to choose a theoretical path.
Generally music is practical, not theoretical.Musical theory exists to help us express ourselves in music better and easier ,but not to guide us entirely on writing or playing music.Theory is not an algorithm for creating music,it's a tool. So for all time, keep that in mind and it will make your life easier.
So if you don't wanna be just an instrument player you can follow the path of a composer or an arranger. These are the specializations in which, actually the theory meets the human ear and imagination.Usually to become an arranger/composer you should give enough time to learn theory (be it the modern jazz theory or the classical theory).
Arranger is the one who is given a melody or a whole composition and then creates the music lines for every instrument in a band,or in an orchestra. He is the one who will choose "What will everyone play in each piece of composition".
Composition though is the art of creating the melody, the theme and the harmony of a piece. And quite often a compositor is also the arranger and vice versa.
Also , you could prefer being a music technician like sound designer, music technologist, sound engineer or something like that. These professions are bothering with the capturing of music, the design of music and sound by using synthesizers and computer software, creating sound for film industry, creating virtual instruments for other producers to use, analyzing spaces where a music studio will be built and many other things like these.
Of course there are many more "professions" in the musical world and they're all worth learning ,but i mentioned the main areas that i could think of.So the choice is yours, you can pick a single aspect or more.Just make sure that you really like it and ready to spent some time learning it.I can't really list here all the things you can do with each one of these specializations but you can always google them to find out more.
So, choose what you like and i will continue giving tips on every aspect of them that i know and in which i can be helpful. Take care.
